Through the Years

A long time ago, when I was awfully young and barely remember, my parents moved us all to Miami, FL.

My sister and I bounced around different schools... no real reason for the change that I could discern, just my mother looking for the "best" school, which meant we switched schools about once a year. We actually went to one school for almost three years... just not consecutively.

After 4th grade, we began spending our summers in Antigua, Guatemala. It began as an effort to learn Spanish (it worked) and turned into "this will be a better environment for junior high" move. We studied at Colegio "La Salle" (note that the Wikipedia entry doesn't currently list the Guatemalan institutions, but there are several) for several years.

I returned to Miami for high school and attended Ransom Everglades School in Coconut Grove. From there, I went to the University of Miami, with a year abroad at the University of Glasgow.

When I finally graduated for good (two degrees later), I moved to Illinois to work for a large insurance company, Allstate, in one of their Information Technolgoy departments.

About two and a half years after I moved to Illinois, I met my now ex-husband, Eric, when I joined a gaming group in Berwyn. It was actually quite some time before we started dating. We were married in 2004 and welcomed our daughter, Cassandra, in 2005. In 2007, we officially welcomed my niece, Jesi, into our family, when we assumed guardianship of her.

Some years even have their own web pages... that's because I'm too lazy to address all the holiday cards and prefer to create a general update page and e-mail the link to people. (We tried the holiday cards in 2006... it failed, miserably, and we gave up a bit more than halfway through.)

The Annual Updates

  • 2005
  • Birth of child... that really takes up a lot of the year. Mention of a planned trip to England and Scotland that failed to happen, due to job and house changes in 2006.

  • 2007
  • I even tacked on a bit of 2006 happenings to this, to try and make up for the failed cards the previous year.

  • 2008
  • A job change, trip to Great Britain, and preschool make for an eventful year.

  • 2009
  • This year's update is a photo gallery. Enjoy!
